Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 2 tubes (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent rolls

Cheese Spread

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (8 oz) sour cream

Meat Topping

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 12 envelopes or 24 Tbsp taco seasoning, to taste

Additional Toppings

  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • optional toppings: avocado slices, taco sauce, hot sauce, black beans (drained)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the crust.
  2. Bake Crust: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a large ungreased cookie sheet, carefully pinching the perforations together to seal the dough into a solid base. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the crust turns a light golden brown.
  3. Prepare Cheese Spread: While the crust is baking, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream in a bowl. Whisk thoroughly to remove lumps, creating a smooth, creamy spread. Set aside.
  4. Cook Meat: Brown the ground beef or turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Optionally, add a can of drained black beans for extra protein. Sprinkle in taco seasoning and add 1/4 cup of water. Simmer the mixture for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to infuse the flavors.
  5. Assemble Pizza: Once the crust has baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for 3-5 minutes. Spread the cream cheese and sour cream mixture evenly over the crust. Layer the cooked taco meat across the surface, then top with shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, and Mexican cheese blend. Add any optional toppings like avocado, taco sauce, or hot sauce as desired.
  6. Serve: Cut the taco pizza into serving-size pieces. Serve immediately for a warm, fresh experience, or refrigerate to enjoy later as a cold pizza option.

Notes

  • Pinching the crescent roll dough perforations tightly helps prevent the crust from separating during baking.
  • Using ground turkey is a healthier, lower-fat option compared to ground beef.
  • Black beans are optional but add extra protein and fiber, making the pizza more filling.
  • Customize toppings like avocado, taco sauce, and hot sauce to your taste preferences for added flavor.
  • Allowing the pizza to cool slightly before spreading the cheese mixture prevents melting and sogginess.
  • Leftover taco pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
