Snickerdoodle Puppy Chow is a delightful twist on the classic puppy chow snack, combining crunchy Chex cereal coated in melted white chocolate and a perfect blend of cinnamon and powdered sugar for a sweet, cinnamony treat that’s perfect for game days, parties, or just an irresistible snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 6 cups Chex cereal (or 4 cups Chex and 2 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon, divided

Wet Ingredients

  • 12 oz. white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cereal: Pour 6 cups of Chex cereal (or a mix of 4 cups Chex and 2 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch) into a medium bowl, ensuring it’s ready for coating.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: Place 12 oz. of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the chocolate in 25-second increments at 50% power, stirring thoroughly between each interval. Continue stirring as the residual heat melts the remaining chips to avoid overheating and seizing the chocolate. Once smooth, stir in 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon to infuse the chocolate with warm cinnamon flavor.
  3. Coat the cereal: Pour the melted cinnamon white chocolate over the cereal. Gently stir to ensure every piece is evenly coated, allowing the flavors to meld perfectly.
  4. Add powdered sugar mixture: In a gallon-sized plastic bag, combine 1 cup powdered sugar with the remaining 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon. Transfer the coated cereal mixture into this bag and shake or toss vigorously until the cereal pieces are evenly coated with the cinnamon powdered sugar mixture.
  5. Cool and serve: Transfer the coated cereal back to a bowl. Let it cool and set for about 15 minutes at room temperature before digging in and serving for the best texture and taste experience.

Notes

  • Avoid overheating the white chocolate to prevent it from becoming thick and unworkable. Use a double boiler or microwave it at 50% power, stirring often for smooth melting.
  • Store the Snickerdoodle Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature, where it will stay fresh for 1-2 weeks if not devoured sooner!
  • Make sure to thoroughly stir and coat the cereal to ensure the powdered sugar mixture sticks well, giving every bite that signature cinnamon sweetness.
