Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana (mashed)
  • ¾ cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened, not pie filling)
  • 1¾ cups oat flour (or almond flour for grain-free)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (xylitol-free only!)

Optional Add-ins

  • A dash of Ceylon cinnamon for cozy aroma
  • 1 tsp unsweetened applesauce for extra softness

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a bowl, mash the ripe banana and stir in the pumpkin puree, egg, and natural peanut butter until well combined.
  3. Add Flour: Gradually add the oat flour to the wet mixture, stirring continuously until a soft dough forms. If using, mix in optional cinnamon or applesauce here.
  4. Roll Out Dough: Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness for even baking.
  5. Cut Shapes: Use cookie cutters (bone and heart shapes recommended) to cut the dough into small treats. Alternatively, roll into balls and flatten with a fork if cutters aren’t available.
  6. Bake Treats: Arrange the cut shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool & Serve: Allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before offering them to your dog to ensure safety and optimal texture.

Notes

  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3–4 days.
  • Refrigerate for up to 7 days to maintain freshness.
  • Freeze treats for up to 2 months; thaw before serving.
  • If dough is too sticky, add more flour gradually.
  • If dough is dry or crumbly, add a spoonful of pumpkin puree or applesauce.
  • For softer treats, bake less time; for crunchier treats, add 3–5 minutes to baking time.
  • Always use xylitol-free peanut butter to keep treats safe for dogs.
  • Introduce treats slowly and monitor for any food sensitivities.
