This Keto Nutella recipe offers a deliciously creamy, sugar-free hazelnut spread perfect for those following a low-carb or ketogenic lifestyle. Ingredients

Scale

Nutella Spread Ingredients

  • 2 cups Raw Hazelnuts
  • 1/3 cup Powdered sweetener (or more to taste, such as erythritol or monk fruit)
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Hazelnuts: Heat your oven to 350ºF (177ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate even roasting.
  2. Roast Hazelnuts: Spread the hazelnuts in a single layer on the baking sheet. Roast for about 10 minutes or until fragrant and lightly browned, which enhances their flavor and makes skin removal easier.
  3. Remove Hazelnut Skins: Place the warm hazelnuts in a clean kitchen towel. Rub them gently together to remove most of the skins, which can be slightly bitter and affect texture.
  4. Blend Hazelnuts: Transfer the peeled hazelnuts to a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. This process takes 5 to 10 minutes and requires stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending.
  5. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the powdered sweetener, unsweetened cocoa powder, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract to the food processor. Blend again until the mixture is smooth and well combined. If the spread is too thick, add a little more melted coconut oil to achieve desired consistency.
  6. Store the Spread: Transfer the homemade sugar-free Nutella to a clean jar. Store it in the refrigerator, where it will keep fresh for up to one month.

Notes

  • Use a powdered sweetener that measures like sugar for best texture and sweetness matching.
  • Ensure hazelnuts are roasted fresh for the best flavor and easier blending.
  • If you prefer a crunchy texture, reserve some chopped hazelnuts to stir in at the end.
  • Allow the coconut oil to melt but not overheat before mixing to maintain smoothness.
  • Store the spread in an airtight container in the fridge to keep it fresh for up to a month.
