This Hot Honey Mango Tajín Margarita is a vibrant, spicy twist on the classic margarita, combining the sweetness of mango purée with the heat of hot honey and chili powder, balanced by fresh lime juice and tequila. The Tajín-rimmed glass adds a tangy and slightly spicy kick, making this cocktail perfect for those who enjoy bold, refreshing flavors with an exciting spicy edge.

Ingredients

Scale

Mango Purée

  • 1 cup frozen organic mango chunks
  • 12 tsp hot honey
  • Pinch of chili powder (optional)

Margarita

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau
  • ½ cup mango purée (from above)
  • 1 cup ice

Garnish & Rim

  • Tajín (for rim and garnish)
  • 1 lime wedge (for garnish and rimming)
  • 1 dried árbol pepper (optional, for garnish and heat)
  • Additional hot honey (for drizzling inside the glass)

Instructions

  1. Make the Mango Purée: Blend the frozen mango chunks with hot honey and a pinch of chili powder until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water or lime juice to reach the desired consistency.
  2. Rim the Glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into Tajín to coat the edge for a tangy and spicy flavor boost.
  3. Mix the Margarita (Frozen Version): Blend the tequila, fresh lime juice, Cointreau, prepared mango purée, and ice until smooth and frosty.
  4. Mix the Margarita (Shaken Version): Alternatively, shake the tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, mango purée, and ice vigorously in a cocktail shaker, then strain into the Tajín-rimmed glass over fresh ice.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Drizzle hot honey inside the glass for extra sweetness and heat. Rinse and deseed the dried árbol pepper to reduce the spiciness if desired, then add it to the glass for garnish and a warming aroma. Finish with a lime wedge on the rim as a fresh garnish.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot honey according to your preferred spice level.
  • If you prefer a milder cocktail, remove the seeds from the dried árbol pepper before adding it.
  • The chili powder in the mango purée is optional but enhances the spicy flavor profile.
  • This cocktail can be enjoyed either frozen or on the rocks, depending on your preference.
  • For best flavor, use fresh lime juice and quality tequila and Cointreau.
