Main Ingredients
- 1 lb green beans, trimmed and cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 pkg (8 oz) Crab Classic, Chunk Style*
- 1 cup prepared Alfredo sauce
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup sliced red onion
Topping
- ½ cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh chives (for garnish)
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the casserole evenly.
- Cook Green Beans: Bring a saucepan of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Drain the beans well and immediately rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process and preserve their vibrant color.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the cooked green beans, Crab Classic, prepared Alfredo sauce, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and 1/3 cup of the grated Parmesan cheese. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Grease an 8-inch square baking dish. Transfer the green bean and crab mixture into the dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Make Topping: In a small bowl, combine the sliced red onion, panko bread crumbs, remaining 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese, and melted butter. Toss together until the mixture is evenly coated.
- Sprinkle Topping & Bake: Evenly sprinkle the panko topping over the casserole. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and garnish with the finely chopped fresh chives. Serve warm for best flavor.
Notes
- You can substitute sliced red onion with shallots if preferred for a milder flavor.
- Crab Classic can be replaced by Crab Supreme or Simply Surimi in any of the recipe variations.
- Be careful not to overcook the green beans during boiling to maintain a pleasant texture.
- For a gluten-free option, replace panko bread crumbs with gluten-free breadcrumbs.
