Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Butter

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Chives, minced (to taste for topping)

Crab Dip Filling

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz lump crab meat
  • 4 oz claw crab meat
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella, shredded
  • 1/2 cup sharp white cheddar, shredded
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup shallot, minced
  • 1 tbsp parsley, freshly chopped
  • 1 tbsp chives, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced or paste
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 68 croissants

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix together the melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, and salt until well combined. Set this mixture aside for brushing the croissants later.
  2. Make Crab Dip Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, claw crab meat, shredded mozzarella, shredded sharp white cheddar, mayo, minced shallots, chopped parsley, minced chives, Worcestershire sauce, garlic paste or minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to blend all ingredients evenly.
  3. Incorporate Lump Crab Meat: Gently fold in the lump crab meat into the dip mixture carefully to keep the lumps intact for better texture.
  4. Prepare for Filling: Transfer the crab dip filling into a piping bag. If you don’t have one, use a ziplock bag and cut a small tip off one corner to pipe the filling.
  5. Assemble Croissants: Take each croissant and make 4-5 shallow cuts horizontally through it, being careful not to slice all the way through, creating pockets to fill.
  6. Fill Croissants: Pipe the prepared crab dip filling into each of the croissant pockets, distributing the filling evenly among them.
  7. Apply Garlic Butter: Brush the outside of each stuffed croissant generously with the prepared garlic butter mixture.
  8. Bake: Place the croissants on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the croissants turn golden brown and the filling is warmed through.
  9. Final Touches: Remove from oven, brush with any remaining garlic butter, and sprinkle with extra minced chives for garnish.
  10. Serve: Serve the crab dip croissants warm to enjoy the melty, savory flavors at their best.

Notes

  • If a piping bag is unavailable, use a ziplock bag with a corner cut off to pipe filling.
  • Do not cut croissants completely through to maintain structure and keep filling inside.
  • Adjust Old Bay seasoning and pepper according to your spice preference.
  • Use fresh lump crab for best texture and flavor, but canned crab meat can be a substitute in a pinch.
  • Serve immediately after baking for optimal taste and texture.
