Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Filling

  • 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger

Slaw

  • 1 bag coleslaw mix
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey

Tacos and Garnishes

  • 16 wonton wrappers
  • Sweet chili sauce, for serving
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare muffin tin: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the back side of a muffin tin with cooking spray to prevent sticking when shaping the wonton shells.
  2. Form and bake wonton shells: Drape each wonton wrapper over an inverted muffin cup to create taco-shaped shells. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until the shells are crisp and golden brown, then carefully remove and cool slightly.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes until no longer pink in the center.
  4. Glaze the chicken: Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ginger with the chicken. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the chicken is well glazed and fragrant.
  5. Prepare the slaw: In a mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, sliced green onions, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Toss everything together until the slaw is evenly coated with the dressing.
  6. Assemble the tacos: Fill each baked wonton shell with a portion of the glazed chicken, then top generously with the prepared slaw. Drizzle sweet chili sauce over the top, and garnish with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately: Enjoy these chicken wonton tacos right away to maintain the crispness of the shells and the freshness of the slaw.

Notes

  • To keep wonton shells crispy, assemble just before serving.
  • Substitute chicken breasts with ground chicken or turkey for a different texture.
  • Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce to taste for desired spice level.
  • Ginger and garlic can be freshly grated or finely minced for maximum flavor.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content if desired.
