Ingredients

Scale

Fish

  • 1 lb cod fillets (fresh or thawed, patted dry with paper towels)

Seasoning & Flavor

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (or minced fresh garlic)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (smoked paprika recommended)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1/2 tbsp dried parsley)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 5 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  2. Prepare the Cod Fillets: Pat the cod fillets very dry with paper towels to remove all moisture, which helps achieve crispy edges.
  3. Season the Fish: Brush or rub the fillets evenly with olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Then sprinkle garlic powder, paprika, sea salt, and black pepper evenly over the fillets, gently rubbing the spices in with your fingers.
  4. Arrange in the Air Fryer: Place the fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer without overlapping. Spray the basket lightly with oil beforehand to prevent sticking.
  5. Air Fry the Cod: Cook for 8-10 minutes at 375°F, flipping the fillets halfway through. The cod is done when it flakes easily with a fork and has golden, slightly crispy edges.
  6. Add Fresh Parsley and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the hot fish just before serving to enhance flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Use haddock or halibut if cod is unavailable.
  • Patting fish dry is essential to avoid soggy texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to prevent steaming instead of crisping.
  • Adjust cooking time for thicker fillets; thicker than 1 inch may need extra minutes.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes.
  • Avoid reheating in the microwave to prevent rubbery texture.
  • Frozen cod must be fully thawed in the fridge overnight before cooking.
  • Spraying the air fryer basket with oil helps prevent sticking.
